The purpose of this page is to provide visitors with both information on updates to this site and new items affecting the world of environmental management.

The latest piece of information that may be of interest is that the International Standards Organisation published a new version of ISO14001 on 15th November 2004.

ISO14001:2004 is now in place and is currently running alongside the 1996 version. From May 2005 all new certifications will need to be against the 2004 version, and all existing certificates need to be converted to the 2004 version within 18 months - i.e. by April 2006.

There are a number of changes to the standard introduced by the 2004 version including:

• The need to include everyone that works for or on behalf of the business within the EMS

• The need to define the scope of your EMS

• Many other subtle changes that enhance the effectiveness of the Standard
